Brookings Oregon – Costal Hike

After watching a spectacular sunset in California we decided to drive up across the border to Oregon.  I really wanted to show Adam how beautiful and green it was and argued we couldn’t see anything after dark anyways, so we might as well drive a bit.  He humored me.  Thank you honey! 🙂

We arrived late and hungry in Brookings, Oregon; the first town over the border.  We found this amazing mom & pop restaurant called Black Trumpet Bistro from Yelp.

The ambiance needed a little work but the food was delicious! It was rich and heavy but all sourced from local produce. We love mushrooms so we started with mushroom toast.

Our waiter was the owner who told us about mushroom foraging and a secret hike down the rugged coastline to a private beach.   We hot tubbed that night after dinner then woke up early in search of said hike.

This was our coastal drive.  Green, rugged, pine trees and ocean.

IMG_3771.JPGThe ferns and moss growing on the trees made it feel like a magical fairy forest.  There were crazy bright colored orange and yellow mushrooms everywhere.

So green!  IMG_3774

Was this unmarked trail the secret trail?

The ocean was getting closer.

And closer.

The lush forest against the ocean & beach boulders was visual bliss.

Beautiful!

And down we went!  You can see from the view up, it was steep. 🙂

And far, as you can see from the drift wood on the beach below.

We had to take turns on the ropes so they wouldn’t catch on branches and rocks.

Come on Adam.  🙂

It was an adventure indeed.

A little perspective with the view back up. 🙂
