Fern Canyon

We were headed to Gold Bluffs Beach and Fern Canyon.

I usually have my feet up on the dash while driving shotgun.  🙂

The dense forest had cleared to coastline. We 4-wheeled a bit through rivers.

The beach was beautiful and we drop along it for half a mile before arriving at the parking lot.IMG_3851.JPG

10 minutes into our hike, it turned up the stream and into this.

The entire walls were covered with ferns on both sides.

Beautiful, crazy, green, lush nature!

Close up.

The plants and leaves were exotic and beautiful.  The canyon was deep and dark at certain points.

Adam was sweet enough to carry me when the water was deep so I didn’t get wet.  He’s the sweetest ever!

More crazy ferns including mini waterfalls everywhere!

Like the one behind me here. The logs are shiny from the constant water.

Me trying to avoid wet shoes as we hike up the entire river.

Finally we were reaching the top. We could see sunshine on the trees around us again.

We hiked up out of the river and back along the ridge for the return. This is a view from up top looking down at the mouth of the fern river canyon.

We walked out on the beach next to the parking lot.

It’s such a contrast to see miles of empty coast compared to the jam packed coasts of homes in southern California. I hope they preserve this and it always stays this way.

Beach!

Yay!

And my Dr. Pepper commercial. 🙂
